Why has my husband been doing this to me?
For about the past month, my husband has basically not been able to go an hour at home without giving me at least one insult. And they are very hurtful, not the ones that could be joking, like “You ruined my life” and “You’ll never come close to how my mother was”, stuff like that. From everyone else I get endless compliments about how I’m a great mother who does everything for her children and actually spends my entire life around them. I don’t have any friends outside of the house, only online. Even his father said I’m a great mother. We have two kids, a 4 year old girl and a 2 year old boy. Lately I’ve been more involved in meaningful activities that don’t require me to leave the house. I do the free clicks to donate to help various charities, I recycle anything I can, and I don’t nag him. But even the smallest question to him brings about “Shut the F up you stupid B” for no reason. Out of nowhere. ANd he doesn’t care how much it hurts me. Why?
This is abuse. You need to ask yourself if you want to stay and subject your kids to this. Then, even if the answer is yes…you should start putting money away where he can’t get to it. Open a savings account and have statements sent to a friend’s house. Even $5 a week can give you a cushion if and when his abuse escalates to violence. Get a prepaid cell phone. You don’t even have to buy minutes for it. 911 is a free call that you can make even from a disconnected cell as long as there is coverage and battery power. (I’ve had to use this myself as my ex-husband tried to attack me) Make sure that you have copies of birth certificates and social security numbers for you and the kids in a safe place that he can’t get to, that way he can’t hold your identification cards hostage. Basically, get an escape plan worked out…even if you want to stay. In a case like this, it is always better safe than sorry. Now, try to actually fix your marriage. Talk to him about counseling. He may be depressed. If he does not want to work it out, remember that you are the Queen of your LIfe! He cannot control what you do/think/feel/want no matter how hard he tries!
