kids online homework kindergarten
I’m worried about starting school….?

OK first thing’s first….

I am homeschooled. I go to school from my computer. From Kindergarten all the way to 7th grade I went to public school and got A’s and B’s. For 8th grade (this year) my parents decided to put me in online school for some reason?? THIS WHOLE YEAR I FELT LIKE I DIDN’T LEARN ANYTHING!!!!! i feel like I took the 8th grade year off. I felt like this was just one long summer cuz I honestly feel like I didn’t learn anything….
Now here’s my problem: I got accepted into a Magnet High School….One of the best in my city!!!! Now i’m scared out of my mind because I didn’t klearn anything this year and now I have to start a high school with a bunch of kids that probably know so much more than me. What if I fail my tests or homework…because i haven’ty had homework, projects, or reports for the whole 8th grade year. So do you think I could get back on track?

Hmm…It depends on the subjects. For the most part, classes like English and History are more-or-less stand-alone classes. As long as you know how to read a passage and analyze it and make connects (especially in history…) you should be fine. The only real problem would be with math and science, though, I think you’ll be ok with the science—most high schools don’t continue where middle school left off (ex. you won’t have Inorganic of Chem in middle school and then Organic Chem your freshman year). The only real blip that can occur is in math. Try requesting material from the school. If you’re going to take Geometry your Freshman year, request the Algebra I book from the school and review it during the summer (I’m assuming the math goes prealgebra-> Algebra I -> geometry -> Algebra II -> Trig, but it’s different for every state). Try talking to the school counselor—they’re always happy to help =)
