I struggle finding the beauty in black women. How can I change this?
I’m a young black female (17). I’ve always struggled feeling beautiful because I’m black. I was raised in a predominantly white area and the kids wouldn’t be my friend because I am black. That’s where this backwards mentality came from. I’ve seen some very beautiful black women, but honestly I just don’t feel beautiful like one. I’m tired of having all these damn hair issues. My hair has been breaking off for so long. Sometimes I wish I had a different texture of hair, but then I feel like God gave me coily hair for a purpose and I know it can be beautiful. I know this sounds bad but it’s just how I feel.
How can I find the beauty in black women?
No, I’m not one of those cowardly losers who get online and rant about black people to make themselves feel better and try to act tough with the keyboard so don’t waste my time answering this question if that’s what you’re going to say

Well hopefully if you go to college it will be one that’s not in your area. It seems unfortunately you are a victim of your surroundings and the way you grew up. You are beautiful don’t undermine yourself because of some stupid standard or comment that someone makes based upon your skin color or features. And as far as the hair issues there are many sites and even videos on Youtube that can help you learn ways to take better care of your hair and manage it. One of my friends wears her hair natural and it is so thick and beautiful. Please keep your head up I’ve met other girls who had the same thought process as you it’s sad to see someone go down that road. I hope you are one of the ones that can overcome this though. And by overcome I mean realize your true self and beauty not some picture in a magazine. Sorry if I sound like some kind of wannabe after school special lol
